Korean Healthy Food Supporters – 건강한食서포터즈
Today I want to give my support to a new initiative from Hansik, the Korean Food Foundation. Recently the announced a new program they want to set up for which they call upon anyone and everyone that loves Korean food. The whole thing they want to set up is called “Korean Healthy Food Supporters” or “건강한食서포터즈”.
Korean Healthy Food SupportersFood is life. It is who we are. Our culture.
Food is life. It is who we are. Our culture. Every culture therefore takes their own cuisine very seriously. We are all proud of the food of our homes. We feel so as it is the food of our parents. It is the food we grew up with. When undergoing difficult times we always long to taste that food. We also love to have others taste our food. We smile when we see them enjoying our home food. It is only human.
Korea and Koreans naturally are the same as all of us. They too are proud of their kitchen and for good reasons. However, it is a cooking that sits in the dark as the spots under the light are often occupied by the more known Japanese and Chinese kitchen. That needs to change Hansik, the Korean Food Foundation, must have thought when deciding upon this new program. Though I couldn’t agree more. Korean food deserves to be in the spotlight too.
The program they are setting up is called “Korean Healthy Food Supporters” or “건강한食서포터즈”. The goal of the program is to set up an online community that is dedicated to spreading Korean food around the world. The efforts are coordinated by the Korean Food Foundation, but it will be carried out by food enthusiasts, enthusiasts like me and you.
What I Will Do And What You Can Do
You probably do not know I love Korean food. So it won’t surprise you that I’ve already submitted my application form to become a Korean Healthy Food Supporter. Because of that there there can be a shift in content on Morning Lands in the near future. Don’t worry, learning Korean will still be the focus, but we’ll start adding a lot more posts on Korean food to break things up. I already have a few ideas, but I think I still need to work on it.
On the social media front, however, you can expect a lot more food related activity. To the dismay of my partner, I am planning to turn the “Korean Healthy Food Supporters” or “건강한食서포터즈” period to full time Korean food. I’ve explored the Korean kitchen already for a bit, but it still has so many more secrets. It will be fun to share those experiences on social media such as Twitter and Instagram.
Don’t think as a simple netizen you cannot offer a hand and become a Korean Healthy Food Supporter. If you have a social media account such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. you already have the tools needed to help. You just need to start filling those profiles with helpful tidbits on Korean food backup by fantastic pictures of delicious Korean food.
Do you feel an itch to become a Korean Healthy Food Supporter? That’s awesome. You won’t have to do too much, you’ll just have to fill in an form and submit it. The form can be found with the announcement by Hansik so just go there now and become a supporter.
If you are planning to take part let me know in the comments below. I would love to keep track of all your efforts. They will be delicious!
PS: Hanja 食 [식]
We are still a language blog and I happened to notice Hansik, the Korean Food Foundation, used Hanja in the Korean name of the program. The character they used replaces one of two syllables of the word 한식. That character is 食 [식].
The meaning of 食 [식] is food and all things related to eating and things you can eat. So it comes to no surprise the word 한식, which means Korean food, has this character. Other words with this character include 음식, 식사 and 식당.
